Ambient Love

Capturing the true mood of the wedding day means letting the light in…or better said… …”letting the love in”. Below are some of my favorites that crystallize still moments in the memories of the bride and groom.

I love seeing it all come together as a formal presentation, complete with creative digital enhancements!

Sweet Baby Tears

You know, what’s a perfect session anyway? Some would say perfect is a baby full of smiles for the camera. But, I say capturing the essence of the child–the inner spirit—the happy and the sad—the moments that show the true vulnerability of our little ones that give us a glimpse into their soul. Now that’s a perfect session!

Often these are not the ones the parents came to get—-but it is surely the ones they should get, for these are the ones that will pull on our heart strings for years to come!

Vivid Megapixels

One thing I can say is “I’ve got a GREAT camera”. Quality for the dollar, this is one of the reasons I feel my services are a better-than-average value….let alone the time I invest pre, during and post session with my detail-oriented nature. My equipment and lenses are best on the market (I’ll just say you could drive them). Wallet-sized to billboard, it is all possible.
So, when ‘the image really does matter’, make sure you do your homework.

Beyond the ordinary

In the competitive business of professional photography, having an eye and superior equipment is not enough. One must also stay current with the ever-changing trends in technology and technique. Below are some of my favorites from a recent family session after my newest dose of digital creativity.. .subtle little effects that make an image ‘pop’.
Yes, most of this new learning comes in the wee hours of the morning after my family is tucked in bed, but when you enjoy something this much, the time passes quickly.
This little baby was full of smiles.

A Beautiful Wedding

Just finished the editing process for this absolutely gorgeous wedding I photographed last month. The couple was stunning and the cathedral breath-taking with God’s natural light coming in through the side windows….no flash necessary in a setting like this!

Below are some of my less traditional favorites…

Senior Albums

This young lady has really got the EYES (and hair…and skin)! We had fun taking some studio shots followed by a short trip to one of my local favorite spots for the outdoors.

Replacing the traditional folio, coffee table albums showcase the best of the session images in creatively arranged prints mounted into professional photo books. I’ve just added a whole new selection of cover styles and fun new colors, too!

…and I might add that my price for these is very reasonable especially when you consider that each image is professionally retouched. Why have loose prints in an ordinary album when you can share your best in a format others will take interest in for about the same total price?

Puppy Love

Let me introduce ‘Heston’, the newest addition to the Petty family.

I took these pictures of him on the day we brought him home at about 6 weeks old.

I’ve always been partial to brown and green in natural hues and this puppy has them both.

We are on day 3 now and he is starting to get a little more comfortable around us, but the bond is still not complete. I tell you, this puppy likes to sleep—is very laid back—and so far, has been easy to potty train. Don’t be surprised if he welcomes you at my studio door!

Striking!

Talk about a beautiful red-head! Not that I’m partial (you see, my little girl also has red hair). This young lady’s hair is such a unique and beautiful shade with a nice sleek texture. The bright green really sets it off.

I wasn’t sure how this red background was going to work with her hair. But, it was a new background and I wanted to try it—to be a little daring—and I dare say, it turned out really striking!

One Little Angel

This little girl is on month 9 of the Baby’s First Year package…and my first little subject to be photographed with my little blue angel wings I salvaged from a personal doll (that my husband broke!). I’ve had these wings for a while and finally got the perfect opportunity to use them…

And I just had to use the antique scale again—but this time with a cookie no less!

The mother requested a walking picture which is perfect for that age where they are just now trying to walk on their own but not quite there, yet…I love this pose as it always turns out nice and is so very real, too..the goal being to also capture the child’s development stage….

Studio Seniors

Yes, it’s true. With a name like ‘Sunlit Portraits’, my first love is photography taken in the natural light of the outdoors, where the sets are right there for us….
But, the studio can sure deliver some incredible images that are particularly focused on making the subject’s eyes stand out. A studio session for seniors is a nice option in the heat of the summer or on a bad weather day.

Most of the seniors I photograph opt for the outdoor collection, adding on a single outfit photographed in the studio as a mini session….or vice versa. Single outfit mini sessions (outdoors or studio) are moderately priced with the entire fee good toward prints when it is added on to a base senior collection.
